Though it is not the end all and be all of PR, Media Relations is still a huge part of our jobs. So we gathered some resources to help hone our (and other PR practitioners’) skills in August’s ‘This Month in PR’ post:
- Different approaches to media relations must be considered based on what you are trying to achieve. The process for launching a new product is very different from offering your clients as an expert source, or proposing a story on the success of your client. Check out these 3 tips on how to rock your product launch media relations. (via BaderRutter.com)
- The PRSA is proposing a new approach to cold pitching journalists. Believe in the quality of your pitch and remove language that de-values it, like sorry, hopefully, etc. (this may be hard for us Canadians). Have you had any success with this approach? Let us know in the comments or on Twitter at @PRTheAgency!
- Check out our post on the top 5 dos and don’ts for media relations. It’s a great starting place (or refresher) for how to go about reaching out to the media.
- Want some great examples of what not to do? Check out the hashtag #PRFail on twitter! It’s gold for reminding yourself on how to do media relations properly.
