Some professionals love them and others hate them, but did you know there are all kinds of PR opportunities to be leveraged at conferences and trade shows? Whether you’re attending as an exhibitor, a speaker, or a guest, there are big PR opportunities most professionals don’t take advantage of that can help spread the word about your brand. So, we’ve come up with some resources for you to check out in July’s ‘This Month in Public Relations’ post to help you understand where you can leverage these PR opportunities:
- Is there a call for speakers at the upcoming conference or trade show you’re attending? Sign up! By securing speaking opportunities at panels, workshops, and other sessions being offered at the event, you will gain brand exposure for your company and position yourself as a thought leader in your industry. If you don’t have a ton of experience speaking at events, check out this post from 3Q Digital to help prepare you for your first speaking event.
- Be a master of social media engagement! Use social media as a tool to engage with other attendees and with media, especially those covering the event. Use the event hashtag where you can and follow others using the hashtag, and make sure to schedule posts on social media about the event. Check out this post from Entrepreneur Magazine about how you can help your brand on social media.
- Plan your conference in advance to ensure you get exposure to the information and audiences you are looking for! Know which panels you want to attend and who is speaking. Are there workshops that would benefit your brand? This blog post from Soulful PR with Janet Murray offers 11 helpful tips to get you prepared for your next conference.
- Are you attending as an exhibitor? Let the media and your targeted audiences know you will be at the show by preparing a news release. Ask the conference organizers if they have a list of media attending the event. Maybe you can invite the media to your booth to demonstrate a new product your company has to offer? Check out this blog post by Mary Reyes from SSPR Public Relations Agency to learn how to get media coverage at your next trade show.
